If not completely removed, it will exert an impact on the effluent quality. The removal of metal ions is generally achieved by adding OH - to wastewater. At an appropriate pH, metal ions will form hydroxide precipitates with OH -. When the pH of the wastewater is adjusted above 5.2, Zn2+, Fe3+, and OH - in the wastewater will form Zn (OH) 2 and Fe (OH) 3 precipitates from the water.
